In this industry we have the luxury of creating our own paths and defining our own titles. This being said I would consider myself a Creative Producer.
What this means for me is that I have the opportunity to utilize my best strengths. I am creatively minded so can therefore understand and support the director’s vision but I am also able to remain objective and can confidently make hard decisions keeping in mind the success of the project.
Throughout my degree I have been taken on key roles in student projects from producer to assistant director, which has allowed me to develop my leadership and logistical strengths in production management. The creative aspect of my chosen title comes from my keen interest to explore and pioneer the potential of transmedia projects. More recently I have found that audiences are not only consuming media in new and varied ways but are also becoming more participatory in the narrative from forums to user generated content and fan fiction. This I feel creates a unique opportunity to engage with audiences; create experiences that resonate with them and ultimately allow filmmakers like myself to truly show that at our core we are storytellers.
